PDF tools – your files are not uploaded to a server
LocalFile processes your documents right in your browser. Whether you shrink a PDF, turn photos into a PDF or combine several PDFs: processing happens on your device.

Processing on your device
When you open a tool, your browser loads the program code. The files you select are then read and processed by that code on your device. LocalFile does not upload them to a server.
Nothing is stored
Your files do not end up in a cloud or in browser storage. Close the tab and intermediate results are gone from memory as well.
No waiting for uploads
Since nothing is transferred, there is no uploading or downloading. Speed depends on your device and the size of your files.
Good to know
- Very large files need a lot of memory. On older smartphones processing may therefore be slower or fail.
- How much a PDF can be reduced depends on its content. We always show you the actual result before you download it.
- Password-protected PDFs cannot be processed.
- LocalFile is funded by ads from Google. Their scripts run on the same page in your browser. We do not pass your files or file names to advertising partners.
