Split PDF

Extract the pages you need from a PDF or split it into several files – for example to send only one chapter, a single invoice or the signed page.

LocalFile does not upload your file – it is processed in your browser.

How it works

  1. Choose a PDF

Select a PDF or drag it onto the drop area. The page count is shown.

  2. Choose pages

Enter pages such as “1-3, 5” or split every page into its own file.

  3. Download

One result is downloaded as a PDF; several results are bundled in a ZIP file.

Frequently asked questions

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied unchanged, including text, images and fonts. Nothing is re-rendered or recompressed.

Can I change the page order?

Yes, with “Extract pages”: the pages appear in the order you enter them, e.g. “5, 1-3” puts page 5 first.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is split with the open-source library pdf-lib in a Web Worker in your browser; LocalFile does not send it to a server.

What is not carried over?

Document-wide elements such as bookmarks and fillable form structures may be lost. Password-protected PDFs cannot be split.
